Monse Apud is a journalism student at the Arizona State University Cronkite School of Journalism and is specializing in photography and video. Monse's goal is to use visuals to empower voices and tell stories in a way that connects with the audience on a deeper level, visual level. She believes in the power that an image holds, as that old saying says " a picture is worth a thousand words".
Originally from Mexico, Monse has been living in Arizona since 2014 and is fluent in both Spanish and English. Before her time at ASU she completed her Associates degree in Arts at Scottsdale Community College. There she was a reporter and photographer for North East Valley News a student news publication where she covered several events across the valley. Monse was also an international politics correspondent for Cadena RASA a news radio station in Mexico City, where she would do reports on U.S. politics. On November 2020 she had her first gallery exhibition at the ASU Northlight Gallery in Downtown Phoenix, where she exhibited some of her landscape work. This last summer she worked as a photography intern for Phoenix Magazine, working especially on food and event photography. Monse is currently a photojournalist for The State Press ASU student run-news organization and is a photography intern for The Arizona Republic. She is eager to enter the work force and continue to grow as a visual journalist.
Monse hopes that her work can inform the public and share the stories of today.
